Even As You Serve Us, Lord
Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.  Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:25-28Â
This past Sunday we had a special speaker, Kent Watts, who has just returned from a year-long voluntary short term mission in Bolivia. Â The thing that he stressed was how he had learned to be a servant willing to do whatever the Lord asked of him in helping others. Â Out of that experience he, his wife, and their teen age daughter had all come to see the absolute necessity for developing "a servant heart." Â

The phrase echoed in my mind for most of the afternoon then when I sat down at my computer in late afternoon the words came very quickly. Â Finding the appropriate tune took a bit of time but I guess that is because I started working down the LM tunes listed in The Cyber Hymnal alphabetically. Â It took a while to reach the Ps.

May God grant us the joy of serving others in His name.
