Time Off, Please?

I wish to marry if you please
So could you help me, dear Miss Gies?
The wedding date is May the 4th
And Sandy wants me there of course.

A lot of work has gone to this
So could you aid this wedded bliss?
All I need is Saturday free
So to wedding and honeymoon I can flee.

Surely you wouldn’t spoil my day
And make me miserable instead of gay.

This is the end of my little verse
It could be better, it could be worse.

After this if you see me in the launderette
My name will then be Coverett.

This request for time off was written for Elspeth to submit to her supervisor, Sandy Gies, when planning for our wedding in May of 1963.
