Sometimes the exercise of struggling with cadence and rhyme forces me to refine those thoughts and emotions in a way that writing prose simply does not achieve.

 

Some of what follows came about simply because a thought began tumbling around inside of me and needed to come out. I share these with you in the hope that they may strike a chord in your mind and provoke you to think deeply on some old or new ideas of your own. Should that happen, good luck to you as you find your own way of expressing those ideas.

 

Some have been written for specific occasions, and on those pages I will try to give a brief sketch of my reason for writing that particular piece.

 

Some are written for family - for certain individuals or family in general.

 

And of course there must be that which is inspired by friends.
