Lunar Eclipse

I stand
beneath a cloudless sky
and watch the moon’s clear light
be hidden
as a shadow moves
across it’s silver face.

And yet
there still remains a glow
of warm persistent red,
holding place
within that dark sky
for the return of light

I think
how like our human state
when our true light grows dim
as darkness
grows with in our hearts
when we lose sight of Him

But still
we know within our hearts
His light is waiting there
when we turn
and look back to Him
bowing in humble prayer

Let us
dear Lord of light and dark,
look daily then to you;
and trusting
may we venture forth
to live our lives this day.
