A Shower

Margie’s gone and done it,
Got herself a man;
This will give you notice
They’re reading out the bans.

Come and join the shower,
Shake her by the hand,
As she journeys onward
To that happy land.

Come and share her pleasure
Class of sixty-one;
Rally round this member
As we’ve always done.

Thursday, March the third
Is the happy night
When we’ll join together
To show her our delight.

Send us your donation,
(Two dollars is alright)
We’ll use your money wisely
To add to her delight.

Then on that happy evening
At the Coverett abode
We’ll plan at eight to gather
While Marg is on the road.

This was sent as an invitation for a wedding shower hosted by Elspeth at our first little home at 28 Shade Street, Galt, Ontario for Margaret Taylor one of her close friends during their nurses’ training at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital. The invitations went out in February 1966.  Her groom-to-be was Al Scott.
